Children face many challenges today. Studies are major one of them. With the number of classes they attend and the amount of homework they do, how can we keep them motivated to perform and stay focused on the goal?

5. Prioritise

.

Sometimes our kids are just too busy to focus – In such cases, sit down with your children and have a heart to heart talk with them. Explore the consequences of having too many activities with them and let them choose which ones to keep and which to drop.

Work out a realistic schedule – Create a daily schedule together with your children. This way they take ownership of their time and activities, and you can hold them accountable if they slack in their responsibility.

4. Cultivate the spirit of “Just Try First”

.

Minimize their anxiety – Children are naturally eager to try new things. But they can also be too nervous – afraid of failure, or reprimand, or embarrassment. Encourage them to just try it first.

.

It’s ok to make mistakes – This is one of the most crucial life skills we can impart to our children. No one is perfect but we must be able to admit, identify and correct our mistakes. This is the core of self-improvement and lifelong learning.

Encourage them to learn from mistakes – Don’t make a big deal out of it. The person who feels worst for failing is the child. Just accept that they made a mistake and let them correct it by themselves. Don’t forget to praise them for their effort!
